Puerta de Marchena – Marchena Door
La Puerta de Marchena es la antigua portada del palacio de los Duques de Arcos, y desde el siglo XVIII propiedad del Duque de Osuna, fue levantada durante el reinado de Isabel I de Castilla, con decoración gótica y con posteriores elementos renacentistas abundando los motivos heráldicos. En su composición vemos rasgos mudéjares.
Su autoría podría estar vinculada a la producción del artista Juan Guas, tanto por motivos estilísti- cos como por la relación de este arquitecto con los propietarios del palacio. Se construye en 1492 y se reforma en 1540. La reforma afectó a los elementos heráldicos que marcaron el cambio de linaje producido en el señorío. Se le añadió a la portada las figuras de salvajes que portan escudos con armas heráldicas señalando el nuevo linaje. El autor de las esculturas es Esteban Jamete, se pueden fechar en 1544. Hay que destacar que la villa de Marchena es una de las más importantes de la Baja Andalucía. El Marqués de la Vega Inclán compra en nombre del Rey Alfonso XIII la citada portada para colocarla en los nuevos jardines de los Reales Alcázares de Sevilla.
The Marchena Door is the former front of the dukes of Arcos’ palace, and since the eighteenth century property of the Duke of Osuna, was erected during the reign of Isabella I of Castile, with Gothic decoration and with subsequent Renaissance elements with many heraldic motifs. In its composition we see mudejar traits.

It was added to the front ßgures of wild people carrying shields with heraldic arms pointing the new lineage. The author of the sculptures is Esteban Jamete, and they can be dated in 1544. It should be noted that the villa of Marchena is one of the most important in the Low Andalusia. The Marquis de la Vega Inclan purchased on behalf of King Alfonso XIII the above front to place it in the new gardens of the Royal Alcazar in Seville.
