Salón del Almirante – Admiral´s Hall
Debe su nombre al Tribunal del Almirantazgo de Castilla, que tuvo su sede aquí. El Salón del Almirante era una parte de la “Casa de Contratación de las Indias”, institución funda- da en el Alcázar de Sevilla en 1504 por Isabel la Católica tras el descubrimiento de Amé- rica para la regulación del comercio entre España y el Nuevo Mundo.
Sevilla fue el puerto elegido por la reina por la seguridad que ofrecía frente a posibles ataques piratas, convirtiendo a la ciudad en Puerto y Puerta de América, y capital euro- pea del comercio durante el siglo XVI. Aquí fue donde el Piloto Mayor Américo Vespu- cio, Magallanes y El Cano trazaron la primera vuelta al mundo, y Juan de la Cosa realizó el primer mapamundi de la historia. Esta sala está decorada con pinturas de temática his- tórica del siglo XIX y principios del XX. Hoy en día es nuestro Salón de Conferencias.
It owes its name to the Admiralty of Castilla Court, which had its headquarters here. The Admiral's Hall was a "House of Trade with the Indies" part, Institution founded in Seville in 1504 by Queen Isabel I after the discovery of America, to control the trade between Spain and the New World.
Sevilla was the harbor chosen by the Queen as it offered security against pirate attacks, turning the city into the Port and Door to America, and the European main commercial City during the sixteenth century. This is the hall where the Main Pilot Amerigo Vespucci, Magellan and El Cano planned the ßrst travel around the world, and Juan de la Cosa made the ßrst world map in History. The Admiral’s Hall is decorated with historical theme paintings from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Today is our Conference Room.
